Masaya Without Garbage Collection

The garbage problem, which for years have affecte the capital of folklore, Masaya, could get worse this week.

The problem is that Nicarguan fuel supplier, Petronic, has cut supplies the municipality for non-payment. The cut means four of the six garbage trucks will stay parked for the lack of diesel fuel.

Juan Sánchez, director of services, the district has serious problems because of debt.

“The municipality has not paid Petronic since last year and in 2013 they cut credit, until the debt is paid. This weekend three neighborhoods were left without garbage collection: Pancasán, San Juan and Villa Bosco Monge”, said Sanchez.

For years, the city of Masaya has been affected by this problem, both for the small budget for garbange collection, for the ignorance of many people who throw waste anywhere.

Sanchez confirmed that the street sweeing will be done as always, the problem – for now – is strictly with garbage collection.
